Dr Walsh is a community-based Geriatrician serving greater Newcastle, Hunter Valley and the lower north coast of NSW. With over 25 years experience in geriatric medicine, he specialises in medical problems of the older person and the aging, including multiple disease states assessment, rehabilitation and dementia.

Dr Walsh also holds appointments as a Senior Geriatrician within HNEHealth and as a Conjoint Senior Lecturer in Medicine within Newcastle University. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and an active member of the International Pyschogeriatric Association.

Cost Of Medicare Items

The initial and follow up consultations are free.
Non attendance of a booked new patient appointment - including cancellation on the day - attracts a non attendance fee that must be paid BEFORE a further new patient appointment can be considered.

Other Services

Dr Walsh performs legal capacity assessments, and reports for the commonwealth immigration department or guardianship tribunal. These are non-medicare services and, as such, attract a non-rebateable fee.
Relative interviews (via phone, email or in person) may attract a non-rebatable fee.
